Scarlet's Story

My name is Scarlet O’Neill & here is my story. I am a photographer. I am an artist. I am a lover. I am passionate & I stand by my person. I live each day to it’s fullest, fantastically, gracefully, courageously & full of heart. Photography is my way of bringing some sweetness to the world. I am a soundtrack queen. Play me a song and I can tell you what movie it’s from. I eat cookie dough out of the Pillsbury package - by the fridge, door still ajar. I squeal with excitement and sometimes jump up & down from it. I look ten years younger than I am, but feel ten years older. I have been photographing since I could hold a camera. I love taking photographs more than anything else. I love making people smile. I love capturing moments for a lifetime of smiles. I love getting to know the people in front of my camera, through and through. Be good to me and I will give you my heart. I want my images to mean something & I want them to evoke laughter, tears and ear-to-ear deep down inside happiness. I want you to see how beautiful you are, how in love that special someone is with YOU. I believe that every single bride is beautiful. I believe in love at first sight. My style is creative, elegant, quirky, modern & vintage, but beyond anything else- timeless. I love old love stories, new love tales and endless kisses. I will take real photos of you & your loved ones. I will show you things that you may have missed or never known. I love fairy tales, but I double love real stories. I can’t wait to tell yours. I really, really love what I do.

This is Sarah & Craig.

A couple who truly understands that the reality of life is laced with a love that only few can truly understand. When I think of these two, my heart fills with happiness because they are the kind of couple that walks through life with a belief that things are good, and that with love, anything is possible.

And, you can see that in every moment of their wedding day. A day that threw some real life things at them, and yet, they just smiled through every moment and then, every thing lined up. It’s a bit like magic.

To Sarah & Craig, more than a pleasure, you are absolutely wonderful. Love you, mean it xo.

Becky & Davit have something very special in their relationship.

They know.

They truly know from the very first moment, just how perfect of a fit they were. They had found their other half. They knew it then, they know it now and they will never have to question it because it’s the truest thing in their relationship.

I meet a lot of people, a lot of couples and I get to dig a little deep to find out what’s under the surface. With them, it’s this beautiful understanding, respect, trust and love. They show that with their every action, their every look and how they communicate. It’s strength and it’s the foundation for a life that will always be layers upon layers of good.

To Becky & Davit, thank you for starting out this year on such a high love filled note. And, thank you for being two such lovely, stand up, beautiful people who’ve truly touched my heart. Love you, mean it xo.

A special thank you to the ever lovely Mona Ng for coordinating such a lavish affair  & Mode Function Event Design Ltd. for such beautiful decor, as always!

The Love’s.

How perfect is that last name?

We’ve all seen the teen dramas where the little girls sick with love crushes scribble hard in their journals; her first name and his last name. Maybe you’ve even done it. I did it when I had a huge crush on Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Before that it was with my grade one crush, Thomas Flannery. I still remember my very first sleep over, with my best friend Krista, where we stayed up all night talking about how dreamy he was; dark hair, glasses, lengthy limbs and the cutest smile. We were both gonna marry him. We were so naive and young, but hey, it was grade one in a time where there was no Britney Spears or Justin Bieber (I don’t know that he was even born then!).

A little 411 on me, I was raised with a really confusing views of the whole last name/maiden name thing. My dad’s (and mine, my brothers & sometimes my mom’s) last name is O’Neill. My mom’s maiden name is Harrington. Her drivers license, health card, passport, visas, etc. all show a variation of Harrington, O’Neill, O’Neill-Harrington, Harrington-O’Neill. My brother even got her maiden name as his middle name. And then, to make matters even more confusing, they named their company O’Neill-Harrington. Somehow, along the way with that, the fact that I’ve been raised to be way independent and have created a company that is my own name, Scarlet O’Neill – well, I don’t know that I would be one to actually change my own name. A topic of conversation that has come up more than once and not always leaves the other person too happy. But you never know what the future holds!? :)

However, to take the last name “Love”, I’d do that. Emily definitely chose right. She also chose right when she married Adrian, too. These two are true love, in every definition of the word.

To say that I’m smitten by them both is an understatement. Every time I spent time with them, especially all my little dates with Emily, I was more and more smitten by just how lovely, charismatic and sweet they are. To say that the big day, “the wedding day” would be magical, no truer words could be said.

Every element of it was magic; from the buzz in the house as the girls got ready, the anticipation from Adrian as Emily snuck up behind him during their first reveal, the way they lit up when she walked towards him during their ceremony, how excited & totally awesome their bridal party was (so awesome that they popped some bubbly & drank it in the streets of Rosedale looking quite fabulous), the speech from Mr & Mrs Love that included Adrian’s little kid undies, the dancing that left me in stitches with laughter and the mind blowing decor that filled the Palais Royale.

Every element of the day was laced together with love.

To Emily & Adrian, thank you for sharing with me the beautiful bond that you have. You triumph over the hard, you breeze through the small and you appreciate every thing you have to offer each other with such beautiful respect & admiration. True Love. Love you, mean it xo.

It was about four years ago that Laura & Alex were girlfriend & boyfriend. They were living together in the Annex and they were in love. Now, only one thing has changed, they are no longer dating, they are officially married.

Husband & Wife.

I can honestly say that after all this time they seem to have fallen more & more in love for the other.

Every single quirk, every single laugh, every single thing about the other person makes them light up.

This is just a little taste into our time spent together yesterday, there is much more to come but scroll down for a little insight into my favourite moment of the evening. It’s a good one, trust me… unless you don’t have a sense of humour, that is :)

This last photo has a story. The story goes as so. I met them outside their apartment as they were coming in, so they had stuff to put away when they got inside, as well as to get dressed. Once we had them all ready to go, I had them sit and just relax. Enjoy each other, just hang out, I said. Laura snuggled in and as Alex went to kiss her, she very seriously asked him, ” Did you put the sausages in the fridge?”. Oh how real life is, and how funny real life can be.

To Laura & Alex, there is much more to come, but for now; a thank you. Thank you for sharing with me how much two people can love each other, and how much each year can make that love stronger and stronger.

Love you, mean it xo.
